The World Water Day is marked every year on March 22.
The first important recommendations on water and its resources issues were formulated at the United Nations Conference on Water, held in 1977 in Mar del Plata (Argentina). Following the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development in Rio de Janeiro, the UN General Assembly, by resolution of 22 February 1993, decided to mark March 22 each year as the World Water Day, with each year being marked with another motto related to water and water related problems. For example, 1995 was marked under the motto: "Women and Water", 2004: "Water and Disasters", and 2007: "How to deal with scarcity". Every day, the average household consumes about 50 liters of water for toilet washing, one in six people on the planet does not have 20-50 liters of fresh water daily, and 3,800 children die daily as a result of water scarcity. According to estimates, as many as 1.1 billion people do not have access to drinking water, and 2.4 billion live without basic sanitation conditions.
Croatia is country extremely rich in water and our water is tap water and it is used in households for everyday needs. With environmental care and rationing, we must keep our water pure and healthy for drinking!
